The Mackinac Bridge: Booking beachfront campsites at Straits State Park or bringing a lawn chair from across the park either way you get a great view of the Mackinac Bridge when dusk brings the nightly lighting. On the other side of the straits in St Ignace, the Super 8 Motel has 33 bridge view rooms with balconies. In Mackinaw City, the beach at the Northwinds Motel is the place to view Mighty Mac day or night.
Mighty Mac as it is known to Michiganders, has connected Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas for 50+ years. The Mackinac Bridge is is the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere with 7,400 feet of roadway suspended in the air over the straits of Mackinac. Total length of the bridge, including its approaches, is approximately five miles.
